Porter Khouw Consulting, Inc. assisted Whiting Turner and Clark Nexsen with the design and construction of two Enlisted Dining Facilities at the Chappo and Edson Range areas of the Marine Corps Base Camp at Camp Pendleton in California. The PKC team was led by Albin Khouw, Senior Vice President of Design & Operations.

The goal of this project was to create modern and contemporary dining facilities that redefine the Marines’ expectation of a mess hall in terms of menu offerings, ambiance and design. Each facility has been designed to be highly efficient and easy to maintain and operate but both facilities have polished finishes that make them inviting and comfortable. The Enlisted Dining Facility at Edson Range provides modern, state-of-the-art cafeteria-style dining for regular meals, short-order meals (including daily bag lunches) and fast food support for approximately 3,374 permanent party personnel and recruits.

The Enlisted Dining Facility at Chappo has been designed to support approximately 2,294 personnel. This venue has more of a relaxed environment and was designed to cater to BEQ personnel. The new dining facility is built where the existing mess hall was located. A temporary kitchen was required for this project.
